Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing benzyl alcohol, used primarily for diluting medications and for flushing catheters. It's not suitable for intravenous injection without medication or for newborns. In broader terms, bacteria play a vital role in water treatment, breaking down pollutants in sewage and industrial wastewater, and even contributing to drinking water purification.
