How it works

Drug and therapy: 

Visudyne (verteporfin) is a photosensitizing agent that is administered into a vein.

Uses

The primary use is to treat the wet form of AMD, where abnormal blood vessels grow and leak under the retina.

It can also be used for other conditions causing abnormal leaky blood vessels, such as pathologic myopia or presumed ocular histoplasmosis. 

Important considerations

Photosensitivity: 

You will be sensitive to bright light and sunlight for about five days after the treatment and should take precautions to avoid them. 

Temporary visual disturbances: 

Expect potential temporary visual disturbances, such as light flashes or reduced vision. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how the drug affects you. 

Professional administration: 

This injection must only be administered by a healthcare professional; do not attempt self-administration. 

Potential side effects: 

Watch for side effects like increased eye pain, redness, blurred vision, or sensitivity to light. Report any severe or persistent side effects to your doctor immediately. 

Extravasation: 

If the drug leaks outside the vein during administration, it can cause severe pain, swelling, and skin discoloration. If this happens, the injection will be stopped, and the area will be protected from light, as described in this FDA document.

Zyceva 100mg Tablet is an anticancer medicine. Cancer is an abnormal and uncontrolled multiplication of cells within the body. It is used in the treatment of patients with advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer.

Zyceva 100mg Tablet is given in combination with Gemcitabine to treat pancreas cancer at the metastatic stage. Administration of this medicine may lead to kidney and liver failure. The doctor will periodically monitor your kidney and liver function.
